On the third Monday of each January we celebrate the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. This year, 2012, Martin Luther King Jr. Day falls on January 16th, the day after the actual anniversary of his birth. In honor of this powerful visionary, here are 10 things you can do in your life to be an everyday revolutionary.

1. Consciously choose to make a positive difference.
2. Strive to see things from the perspective of people who seem to be nothing like you.
3. Commit to truth, justice, and honesty, even if it rocks the boat.
4. Genuinely smile at someone who looks like they need compassion.
5. Listen to the voice of your soul.
6. Commit to love under all circumstances.
7. Read about the lives of people who have made a positive difference.
8. Include humanity and compassion in your definition of power.
9. Ask yourself, “How does what I do benefit others?”
10. Take action! Contemplate how you’d like to make a difference, then do it.
